Known for their sleek image, catchy hooks, and fusion of pop sensibilities with rock energy, the group — led by frontman Mark Holmes alongside guitarist Sergio Galli, bassist Kenny MacLean, and drummer Chris Steffler — made an immediate impact with their debut album Standing in the Dark in 1983. The record produced hits like Doesn't Really Matter and Not in Love, earning the band both platinum sales and a devoted fanbase. Their follow-up, Alien Shores (1985), pushed their sound further into synth-driven territory, producing more chart-topping singles such as Crying Over You.
