Ensemble Made in Canada is our longest-standing piano quartet, having performed for us almost annually since 2010. We think they are as fine an ensemble of this type as any in the world! They have performed VERY widely - " Members have appeared at prestigious festivals such as Marlboro, Ravinia, Orford, Verbier, Prussia Cove, Pablo Casals and Evian and have performed in the most prestigious concert halls in the world." and the ensemble itself in just about all of Canada's chamber music festivals and major halls. They are, in a word, awesome! [For fans, we report that their original cellist Rachel Mercer has become Principal Cellist of the NACO and just doesn't have time to play with EMiC, in their busy season, any more. But Trey Lee is an outstanding replacement.]
Program: Beethoven: Piano Quartet no. 1 in Eb op. WoO 36 (early but nice piece by the teen-aged Beethoven);
Stewart Goodyear, Piano Quartet no. 1 (this nifty one-movement piece was commissioned by the Kingston Chamber Music Society and premiered in 2016);
Saint-Saëns, Piano Quartet in Bb, op. 41.
Cutoff is Friday, January 28, 2022 5:29 pm EST unless it sells out earlier.
