GAY HOLLYWOOD IN THE GOLDEN AGE AND AFTER - IN WORDS AND PICTURES
AND
GAY NYC - FRIENDS AND ACQUAINTANCES IN LITERATURE AND ON THE STAGE IN THE 70S AND 80S.
For decades, hopeful LGBT actors, writers and stage directors came West to make it big. One of those individuals was openly gay author Felice Picano, who arrived in Hollywood in 1977 to work for Cary Grant’s Brut Productions, and soon became a friend to a host of actors and fellow writers, many of whom were closeted. In this presentation, he shares anecdotes, many vintage photos, and excerpts from Justify My Sins, his autobiographical Hollywood novel, to show how some Queer Talent found extraordinary success against the odds and why they became icons of the film world.
AND
From W.H. Auden to Jackie O, Mick Jagger, Robert Mapplethorpe and Harvey Fierstein, people I knew in the NYC of the 70s and 80s.
