The quartet with its distingouished guest artists will play, first, the Clarinet Quintet by Samuel Taylor-Coleridge, and in trhe second half of the concert, the Bartok Piano Quintet. Both of these pieces are out-of-the-way but they are well worth airing by front-line artists such as these. The Bartok is a student piece, composed just after the opening of the 20th Century. Although h e himself swa disdainful of it, once it was rediscovered, its rhythmic drive, folk-melody interest, and fine overall construction have made it, if not a "hit" exactly, a solid work, of interest to every music lover. The Taylor-Coleridge work retains the romantic spirit of the 19th century
